Dorn Method and Children
The Dorn Method can be a safe, gentle, and fun treatment for a range of common issues in children
The Dorn Method sessions are ideal for children and teenagers accompanied by a parent/guardian, who suffer joint and posture disorders or pain from injuries. The exercises are safe and fun!
Basic problems can appear at birth and in the early stages of life, so it is understandable that the treatment of children is beneficial with this gentle therapy.
Children often lack feeling for their body, leg imbalances or other misalignments in their structural system and they do not necessarily express these problems with pain because they are still more flexible and relaxed than adults and their energy flows more freely. However problems are often noticeable in their behaviour such as frequent crying, restlessness or sleeping problems. Other symptoms inlding skin diseases and inflammation, breathing problems, hyperactivity, frequent colds, foot disorders and balance when standing may be due to misalignments and blockages in the spinal column.
Migraine in children can often be connected to a misaligned atlas (C1). Also, Bladder problems can be connected to the third lumbar vertebra (L3).
Some smaller children do not like to walk, but prefer to sit or want to be carried around. Some get tired easily or appear to have a limited range of movement and flexibility. These could all be signs of misalignments in the pelvis and spine. A complicated birth can also cause subluxations in the cervical spine, so the pelvis and hips shoud be corrected as soon as possible.
Luckily we don’t need to correct the whole spine in very young children as they are still self-adjustable and flexible. However, the hips, cervical spine and sacrum sometimes do need attention. With the start of the school age, problems can arise due to sitting for long periods and mundane school activities, however they tend not to suffer pain at first, but the imbalances start at this early stage.
Assessment and Therapy
The assessment and correction of misalignments in children is in principal the same as it is in adults only much more gentle and with more patience.
Different leg lengths in children
This is very common and as mentioned, the causes are often at birth and directly after due to a difficult birth experience.
Dorn Method with Teenagers
As a Teenager, the inner mental state of the child is often reflected in their external attitude. How they cope with pressure at school, college, and family can often be responsible for a physical problem. Possible physical limitations can affect their mental development.
Displaced joints (especially of the hip), crooked pelvis and sacrum can aggravate problems and make additional stress. The physical strength, vitality, endurance, performance, agility, resilience, etc. are dependent on the state of the joints and vertebrae .
Examples: Bedwetting (bladder problems L3), sciatica (LWS – problems), scoliosis (thoracic spine), kyphosis (upper thoracic spine), foot problems (sacrum – blockade) etc.
“My son,was sent home from school with suspected appendicitis. Fortunately it appears not to be the case. Simone was on hand to deliver a homeopathic remedy for me and some acupuncture for him. I can thoroughly recommend her treatment for children”
